Ready, Set, Fire!

Well the time has finally come. The new sculpt is about to finally be fired. After many months of work from sculpting, molding, resculpting and molding again… the pieces are cleaned and ready to be fired, except the hands. Yep, I went and did it again, I resculpted the hands and molded them. The molds have another day of dry time before I can pour. These things can’t be rushed. I’ll be away tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be test stringing on Sunday. Fingers crossed xx….

Tasty Sweets

As well as porcelain doll making, I have also been making miniature sweets for Barbie, BJD’s and dollhouse and sell them in my Etsy Shop. That’s right my mental break from doll making, is making treats for my dolls. Here is some eye candy for you…..

New Design

Well this website has gotten a got a new look. Still a work in progress but a new look. Along with this facelift the forum has been rearranged and now geared to all doll artist not just OOAK’s. I’m personally working on porcelain Ball Jointed Dolls so I will be spending most of my time in that area of the forum, but will answer any questions if I have an answer. If I can’t answer it I’m sure another member will. Starting next week I am going to start a thread dedicated to documenting my journey making BJD’s and the steps I have taken, and the trials and tribulations I am going through. I Not a tutorial per say, for this is only my third doll and there are more than one way to do things. I encourage everyone to share their dolls and works in progress as well.

Test Stringing

Well the Christmas decorations are up so now I can get back to work. I just completed a test stringing. All the moving joints fit and work properly. Time to move on to the many coats of china paint.

Soft Fire

I finally soft fired this doll and finished sculpting the head for a larger master BJD

Just have to clean it up a bit and add some ears

Focus!

Alright it’s time to start focusing, and I picked the projects I chose to start doing that with. I’ve got 2 things going on at the moment… I have to finish up some BJD body parts before they go in the kiln for a soft fire and I’m starting a new sculpt for a BJD to mold and cast. I will be showing pix as I progress. I will start a new blog to show my work in progress and my finished dolls but for right now it will be shown here. I’ll keep you posted with the news of the switch when it’s official.
