Although I have not yet finished my first 60cm BJD, I am nevertheless trying to study how to make wigs, clothing, and shoes for her, so that I will be prepared to start working on those things when she is finished. At my weblog, I have tried my very best to label each post with appropriate and descriptive keywords, so that I can find my posts later on, when they are buried in hundreds of posts. These are the search results for the shoes
I already have some practice leather, from a purse I found at the Thrift store for $3.50 USD. I also have a large piece of cowhide for the outer soles. The next step is to take a pair of feet and cover them with a plastic wrap of some kind, then build up the shape of the shoe with masking tape, over the plastic wrap. That will be used to make the last
for stretching the leather uppers to form the main part of the shoes. From what I understand, the leather should be soaked in water, and be wet for shaping it over the last. I have not started any of this yet. I am still collecting tutorials, and trying to understand how everything is done. At this point, I do know quite a bit more about making doll shoes than I did a year ago, when I was just starting out, making my BJD.
